Overview

FSCA is currently hiring a Light & Medium Duty Technician. The technician is a mid‑level position responsible for performing certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Responsibilities include scheduled dedicated work on assigned customer fleets (mostly light & medium duty gas vehicles) and emergency roadside services when needed.

The role requires creative problem‑solving, self‑management of the workday, critical thinking, excellent customer service, attention to detail, and situational awareness. Duties are performed following established processes, procedures, and safety practices, and all work is documented in repair orders.

Duties
  • Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, power steering, engine (gas and diesel), transmission (manual and automatic), clutch, differential, etc.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled safety training and keep current on safety protocols and procedures.
  • Document work according to company standards and upload pictures, parts used, and all findings on Repair Orders (“RO”) using a company‑issued device and proprietary application.
  • Communicate with management, team members, and Dispatch via Microsoft Office, email, or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary.
  • Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on a company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Work with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve problems.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (combined light & heavy duty preferred; a different combination such as a higher degree or 5 years’ experience is acceptable).
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
  • Adhere to Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations; must successfully complete and pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical before employment.
  • Provide a current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining, or complete a DOT physical if the card has four (4) months or less of validity remaining.
  • Be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations.
  • Be a safe driver with a 3‑year MVR review required; hold a valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license and the ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
Compensation

Hourly base pay rate is $29.38 - $44.09 per hour. The rate may vary within the anticipated range based on location and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. The position may be eligible for additional compensation, including commission and/or an incentive program.

Benefits

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of 6.67 hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays each year. Additional paid time off may be taken for bereavement, voting, jury duty, volunteer time, military leave, and parental leave.
