Summary
The Transfer Driver will shuttle trucks from branch to branch or from branch to customer on an on‑call, as needed, basis. The transfer driver may also pick up units at the manufacturer or upfit locations. Adherence to DOT regulations and safety protocol is required.
Job Responsibilities- Conduct vehicle maintenance checks utilizing the vehicle maintenance form to record safety and functionality of assigned vehicle.
- Maintain assigned vehicles cleanliness (interior & exterior) in accordance with company policy.
- Plan route for efficient delivery while maintaining positive expectations.
- Ensure all trucks are delivered safely and accurately to locations.
- Collect, secure, and properly document for all trucks delivered.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Time and Priority Management – Prioritizing and completing tasks in order to deliver desired outcomes within allotted time frames.
- Teamwork – Cooperating with others to meet objectives.
- Flexibility – Readily modifying, responding and adapting to change with minimal resistance.
- Self‑Starting – Demonstrating initiative and willingness to begin working.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Commercial driver's license, Class A required. Position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to operate motor vehicles. All drivers must maintain a safe driving record.
Computer skills:
Navigation skills/GPS.
Working hours:
Drivers may work varying hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends, depending on the nature of their job. They may also be required to work long hours or be on‑call for deliveries or specific assignments.
Working conditions:
Primarily outdoors, all seasons, with varying weather and road conditions.
Pre‑employment physical, drug screen, and eye exam required.
Mobility – Ability to move easily in and out of the truck and perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and climbing in and out of the cargo area. Ability to sit for long periods of time.
Vision – Good eyesight and visual acuity important for safely operating the vehicle, reading signs, and navigating the road.
Hearing – Good hearing to be alert to sounds such as sirens, horns, or other warning signals on the road.
Manual dexterity – Ability to operate the vehicle's controls, including steering wheel, pedals, and other dashboard controls.
Lifting – Heavy lifting may not be frequent. Occasionally may need to load and unload items from the truck's cargo area, involving lifting and carrying moderate‑weight objects.
