About the Family & Social Services Administration:

The Division of Family Resources (DFR) within the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) is responsible for establishing eligibility for Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families benefits. The division also manages the timely and accurate delivery of SNAP and TANF benefits. DFR also provides employment and training services to some SNAP and TANF recipients. The division’s overarching focus is the support and preservation of families by emphasizing self-sufficiency and personal responsibility.

Salary Statement :

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $39,000.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Research and interpret federal regulation changes and/or requirements.
  • Research and develop service innovations and issues for presentation to the Human Services staff and appropriate committees.
  • Research and establish database for specific human services areas.
  • Develop program service descriptions.
  • Collect and analyze social services data for planning purposes.
  • Solicit, incorporate, and maintain citizen participation in the planning process, which involves public meeting on local level.
  • Act as a consultant to, and specialist in, specified program areas such as child abuse and neglect, development disabilities, mental illnesses, physical disabilities, family services, etc.
  • Review state legislative proposals and actions.
  • Maintain coordination and communication with other administrative units in the programs.
  • Research and make recommendations needed in the development and consequent publication of the Annual Comprehensive Services Plan.
  • Conduct on-going needs assessment for services.
