Overview
As a member of the Menzies Aviation Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Mechanic team you will be responsible for the safe and efficient repairing and rebuilding of airport service vehicles. You will inspect and identify defective or broken parts on vehicles and make repairs to gas/diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Location & Compensation- Location:
Indianapolis Airport (IND) - Hourly Rate: 29.50 an hour
- Schedule:
40 hours a week — open availability including weekends - Required:
Must possess mechanical tools and toolbox
- Inspect and identify defective or broken parts on vehicles and repair gas/diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Hydrate electric equipment according to the Hydration Schedule
- Repair all non-motorized equipment
- Program and understand the functions of the Rapid Charger, including the Battery Monitor and Identification Device (BMID)
- Repair and replace all tires and wheels
- Perform monthly, quarterly and annual quality control checks on the equipment
- Maintain records relating to maintenance
- Drive and operate service equipment vehicles
- Perform accident inspections on involved equipment and report all accidents to Shop Supervisors and Managers
- Answer all radioed repair calls on the ramp
- Provide preventive care to equipment to support aircraft services teams and timely repairs
- Safely operate all vehicles and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and perform Daily Equipment Checks (DEC’s)
- Maintain a safe and secure work environment in accordance with local health, safety, and security policies
- 3 to 4 years diesel mechanical experience
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must possess valid US driver’s license
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to proficiently read, write and speak English
- Must be comfortable lifting/moving 70 lbs
- Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
- Must be comfortable working in all weather conditions
- All mechanics may be required to perform duties of other positions as needed
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all required Airport Badge
- High School Diploma or GED, or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Daily duties include maintenance and inspections of filters, pumps, valves, tanks, and equipment, troubleshooting and repair of equipment and pipelines, and ensuring work is completed timely and with quality workmanship.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, reach with arms, climb or balance, and talk or hear. Lifting up to 70 lbs may be required; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs as needed.
