Overview

We are actively seeking dynamic Heavy Equipment Mechanics to join our rapidly growing team out of our Indianapolis location. Heavy Equipment Mechanics are responsible for diagnosing and repairing Railcar Mover, Heavy Mobile, and Material Handling equipment on customer premises – meeting and exceeding customer’s expectations.
Mechanics are provided with a company service van, service laptop, iPad, credit card, and cell phone. We have internal support staff to assist, as well as free technical training through our factory certified in-house trainers, and in-the-field technical support!

- Specialize in servicing, delineating and repairing Railcar Mover, Heavy Mobile and Specialty Material Handling equipment.
- Maintain excellent rapport with customers.
- Demonstrate detail orientation, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving abilities.
- Stay current with technical knowledge on products we support.
- Promote and practice safety in all daily activities.
- Be willing to work overtime as needed to satisfy customers, including off-hour emergency calls.
- Position is primarily shop-based with occasional field work when necessary.
- Be willing to travel regionally (Midwest) and occasionally stay overnight.
- CDL license is a plus.
- Experience servicing and repairing Railcar Mover, heavy mobile and material handling equipment (minimum 2 years), including Diesel, LP Gas, and Electric lift trucks.
- Basic computer diagnostic proficiency and laptop fundamentals.
- Hydraulic systems proficiency.
- Diesel engine experience & repair proficiency.
- Ability to operate oxy/fuel torch, welding equipment, power tools and hand tools.
- Must successfully complete any required training courses.
- Strong customer orientation and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
- Time management: ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
- Own the tools necessary to perform repairs, per our recommended tool list.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Certification to operate material handling equipment.
- Commitment to the company vision and mission.
Employee frequently lifts up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 75 pounds, and rarely up to 100 pounds. The role requires standing, kneeling, walking, twisting, reaching, and using feet to repair and operate machinery. Occasional sitting, stooping, crouching, squatting, climbing, and crawling. Constant use of hands and fingers for handling objects, tools, equipment, and controls. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Strong listening, speaking, and writing skills are needed to communicate with customers and the service office.
