The role of Locate Technician is responsible for correctly, safely, and efficiently locating underground utilities including telecommunications, electric, and gas. Locate Technician's will be responsible for managing their daily route and schedule within certain parameters, in this role one must be committed to high quality and accuracy of one’s work to ensure that clients and contractors can operate in complete safety and with full knowledge of the location of any underground utility lines they may encounter.

• Identify and map location and depth of utilities such as water, sewer, gas, cable, oil and electric lines
• Document interactions, site information and utilities in organizational software
• Use a variety of techniques (electrical, magnetic, GPS, blueprint analysis, and/or radar) to measure utilities
• Maintaining daily contact with utility managers, crews, homeowners and contractors, discussing locate issues
• Receiving daily jobs via computer/device
• Prioritizing your daily work by going through all locate requests to determine routing
• Reading and understanding utility-provided maps to assist in identification of underground utilities
• Ensuring that clients and contractors suffer no damages or injuries due to mis-located utilities

• HSD, or equivalent education, is required
• 1-2 years' experience in utility location or similar work
• Ability to efficiently manage your daily schedule
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
• Flexibility and temperament to adapt to sudden challenges and changing work conditions
• Willingness to change schedule at short notice to respond to emergency calls
