Location: Mount Vernon
Position Summary:
Responsible for completing routine tasks and assignments relative to the support of plant operations on components, parts, equipment, and systems.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following):
* Execute work assignments in accordance with approved procedures, work orders, or supervisory direction, adhering to all safety requirements.
* Follow appropriate standard operating procedures as guidelines for operating and maintaining equipment.
* Perform construction work including framing and insulation work, asbestos removal and installation, plumbing and repair, scaffold building, and tear down, and concrete work.
* Ability to perform laborer work including but not limited to; sandblasting, painting, fireproofing, layout and sewing of insulation blankets, setting up, and reading transit and performing road repairs and snow removal.
* Ability to perform boilermaker work which includes opening, refilling, and cleaning vessels.
* Effectively communicate an on-going status of work and address concerns to supervision.
* Immediately report defects, deficiencies, or anomalies within the facility to supervision and follow the corrective action protocol.
* Provide management with recommendations for corrective actions, policies, and process improvements.
* Directly support Emergency Response Operations. Understand and willingly accept duties and responsibilities assigned as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
* Accurately document work/performance history (aids in facility configuration management), including equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations, and retests as applicable.
* Complete documentation of work assignments in a real time manner to aid in the configuration management of the facility.
* Initiate changes to existing procedures.
* Comply with all operational, industrial, hazardous, and radiological postings, standards, and expectations.
* Practice job site safety and ensure equipment is left in a safe condition during an intermission in the performance of work.
* Review/walk down clearances associated with pending work assignments.
* Verify materials and tools are pre-staged to perform work.
* Perform routine housekeeping activities and spill cleanups.
* Fill in for supervisor (applicable to those with appropriate experience/knowledge).

Education:
Minimum:
High School Diploma
Experience:
Minimum: 4-6 years experience in related field.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
Employee must have valid driver s license if operating a company vehicle or their own vehicle for work purposes. Employee must also have the appropriate CDL classification/endorsements to operate specific equipment.
Other:
* Must have mechanical aptitude including aptitude in math, sciences, and computers.
* Must be able to work at heights.
* Must be able to work an on-call schedule.
* Knowledge of mechanical or technical processing in a heavy equipment or heavy industrial setting.
* Exhibits high standards, questioning attitude, conservative decision-making, and striving for excellence in all aspects of the job.
* Good teamwork skills and strong personal integrity. Accountable for own actions and actions of others under their direct responsibility.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to learn proactively in varied settings from others, and reactively from personal or team mistakes.
* Ability to understand and utilize drawings, vendor technical information, and procedures to perform work.
* Ability to utilize facility computers and databases to obtain information necessary to support work.
* Basic knowledge of the use of hand tools associated with the tasks to be performed.
* Exercise good judgment and professionalism in the conduct of work to assure equipment availability/reliability and that the plant will operate safely.
* Ability to communicate effectively via radio.
Physical Demands:
Must possess the physical ability necessary to walk, stand, bend, climb ladders or scaffolds, and lift/push up to 50 lbs. Requires good hearing, vision, depth perception, and manual dexterity necessary to correctly operate plant equipment.
