Position:
Trouble Technician (MS-Trouble Technician) – hourly wage $51.00-$63.81.
Location:
Morris St, Indianapolis, IN. Union: IPL Physical Unit. Shift: any assigned shift, holidays, scheduled days off.
- First Class A or B lineman or first class A service lineman with experience as first class A or B lineman.
- Must be willing to work from any of the Company’s operating centers and work any assigned shift or holiday.
- Pass the Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) aptitude test.
- Physical fitness, attendance, safety and performance records will be considered.
- Additional consideration for experience in underground service system or other qualifications.
- Perform work on the transmission, distribution, street lighting, underground system and customer premises necessary to restore interrupted electric service.
- Remove, clear or guard any hazard endangering life and property involving Company facilities.
- Perform manual switching at the various locations on the system as directed by Load and/or Service Dispatchers or supervisor.
- Tests, patrols, inspects, operates, repairs, replaces equipment and lines to maintain safe, continuous and efficient operation of Company facilities.
- Make load and voltage tests to determine adequacy of facilities and service.
- Emergency and routine switching as directed for putting in and taking out of service lines and equipment; sectionalizing, transfer of lead, restoration of service; provide safe clearance for workers or public.
- Connect or disconnect customer service as directed; make temporary or permanent repairs on ranges and water heaters.
- Issue follow-up orders for permanent repairs or replacement to responsible divisions.
- Advise customers of appropriate action to be taken for permanent repairs to defective electrical facilities or appliances.
- Operate truck, read blueprints and instructions, climb towers and poles; maintain good customer relations and keep adequate truck working stock, tools, personal and safety equipment available and in good order at all times.
- Coordinate activities with other employees and customers to maximize safety, economy and reliability of electric service.
Indoor and outdoor work required in various types of weather.
