The Full‑Time Security Specialist Shift Lead (2nd Shift) plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the safety, security, and operational integrity of the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites during evening hours. This position provides direct supervision of on‑duty security personnel and contract security staff while serving as the primary security authority during the shift.

Key responsibilities include overseeing evening museum operations, supervising security coverage for special events and public programs, coordinating incident response, conducting patrols, monitoring surveillance systems, enforcing agency policies and procedures, and ensuring proper documentation and reporting of all security‑related activities. This role also acts as the liaison between security leadership, facility operations, event staff, and external partners when needed.

The 2nd Shift Lead typically works evening hours and must be available for weekend work, special events, and occasional overtime based on operational needs.

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $46,350 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

The essential functions of this role are:

• Develop and implement procedures for the security of buildings and grounds to meet the needs of the State Operated Facility.
• Give advice on the implementation of rules and regulations pertaining to parking and traffic, including markings and signage.
• Report status of security and safety to facility management.
• Develop and continually review the standard operation of the security and safety program.
• Develop professional standards for subordinate staff.
• Review all policies and procedures and provide updates to those policies that specifically refer to safety and security.
• Assist in orienting and training new staff.
• Work with local, state, county, federal and other law enforcement personnel to assure a good working relationship between the State Operated Facilities and these organizations.
• Work with other law enforcement agencies to assure security of the grounds against vandalism and crime.
• Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
