• Title: Plant Biology Laboratory Technician
• Position Type: 1 year contract assignment with additional opportunity contingent upon performance and continued business need
• Job Location: Indianapolis, IN
• Shift: 1st Shift

• Compensation: $25.75/HR

• Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform laboratory and greenhouse tasks, including planting, plant care, and executing herbicide applications using track sprayer chambers.
• Conduct quality checks and sort plant material for experiments.
• Coordinate activities with other groups (e.g., Crop Health, Herbicide Biology Discovery, Research Enablement).
• Maintain laboratory facilities and equipment according to standard procedures.
• Operate common instrumentation, including liquid handlers, imaging equipment, and automated solutions.
• Work with discovery chemistry, solvents, and commercial herbicides safely.
• Perform lab tasks requiring sterile techniques.
• Document experimental data accurately under guidance from project leads.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) for communication and collaborative file sharing.
• Follow SOPs, adhere to safety protocols, and demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree preferred (2+ years experience) or Associate’s degree with 5+ years relevant experience. Master’s degree may be acceptable depending on experience. PhD candidates are overqualified.
• Experience:
  
  Plant biology, plant handling, and weed science. Comfortable working in greenhouse settings and with herbicides/chemicals. Strong organization skills required.
• Medical/Exposure:
  Respiratory evaluation for PAPR required. Exposure to plants and chemicals.

• Education and Experience:
  
  Associate’s (2-year) or Bachelor’s (4-year) degree required. Master’s degree encouraged. New graduates with laboratory experience are encouraged to apply.
