Position Summary
Position develops and effectively manages book‑of‑business within assigned territory. The Account Manager is responsible for the sale of new buses, parts, and service within their territory through continued relationship development of customer base and internal relationship management. Volume, market share, and profitability are the main key performance indicators of continued improvement for this role.
Position Duties & Responsibilities- Actively call on customers and prospects in the assigned territory, maintaining account information, recording call activity, and categorizing customers in the CRM system. Maintain customer and prospect contacts, identify influencers and decision‑makers, break accounts into categories, determine buying cycle, and use the information to create a weekly/monthly contact plan. The weekly contact plan is required to maintain an average of at least 15 face‑to‑face calls per week.
- Generate revenue and market share through equipment, parts, and service sales within assigned territory according to pre‑established sales goals and gross profit objectives.
- Achieve monthly/quarterly/yearly sales and gross profit budget goals.
- Possess or be able to obtain a CDL license within the first 60 days of employment to allow driving of buses to customers for demonstration purposes.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the bus product, features and benefits, competitive comparisons, and Mac Allister support capabilities.
- Think strategically; educate customers, serve as consultant, and strategize the best approach for covering the assigned sales territory.
- Manage the sales transaction from prospecting to order receipt to project management assistance. Be able to use Blue Bird BOSS, Microbird GOL quotation system, and purchasing coop programs such as CIESC and IAESC. Review specifications and provide necessary documentation for schools that individually bid on school bus purchases.
- Interface with other Mac Allister sales and service personnel in a team‑based approach, assisting others as needed to achieve sales goals and "make it happen".
- Educate customers on products and services through product specifications, demonstrations, and presentations.
- Ensure paperwork is timely and complete, perform deal analysis, and assist with Smartsheet creation.
- Assist sales team with new product order reviews to ensure order accuracy and cost control.
- Host customers on factory tours to Blue Bird and ROUSH Clean Tech as needed.
- Complete product training from Blue Bird, Micro Bird, ROUSH Clean Tech, or other partners; remote or onsite as needed.
- Represent Mac Allister and Blue Bird at local and national shows and meetings.
- No formal responsibility for supervising others.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 3 years or more of experience in sales.
- Valid class B CDL or obtain a class B CDL within 60 days of employment.
- Bachelor’s Degree with a business‑related concentration.
- 5 years or more of experience in sales, preferably with commercial buses.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication talent (phone, in‑person, public speaking, and written).
- Willingness to obtain a CDL with endorsements and drive both school and commercial buses.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong multitasking abilities, detail‑oriented, and self‑motivated.
- Professional demeanor with internal and external contacts, including personal appearance and friendly, courteous treatment of peers and people at all levels inside and outside the organization.
- Proficient computer and data entry skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and the ability to learn Blue Bird/Mac Allister/Michigan Cat systems.
- Ability to build and maintain effective customer and professional relationships through strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship‑building and consistent demonstration of solid professional judgment.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
