Job Purpose

Every store manager is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of the store within company policy and local laws, ensuring profitability while maintaining the highest level of customer service.

Responsibilities Customer Service
  • Provides all customers with prompt and courteous service adhering to Best In Class standards.
  • Ensures the store appearance reflects company expectations and standards.
  • Ensures the store is open and ready for business during all hours.
  • Handles all customer conflicts using the MAKE IT RIGHT method.
Increase Profits
  • Utilizes tools and departments to ensure all programs and policies are executed.
  • Manages all expenses and sales to meet or exceed the budget.
  • Performs neighborhood marketing by understanding customer wants and needs through community involvement.
  • Participates in all suggestive selling contests by motivating Sales Associates.
General Management
  • Is committed to the Vision/Mission Statement (T.H.A.N.K.S.).
  • Recruits talented candidates for the company.
  • Effectively schedules associates to meet business demands per labor planner program.
  • Communicates effectively with store associates, Division Manager, and corporate office.
  • Follows all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances concerning store operations.
  • Provides a role model of conduct for other associates.
  • Controls variable expenses of the store.
  • Ensures associates adhere to uniform policy and prompt customer service.
  • Performs all Store Manager checklists daily.
  • Ensures Sales Associate checklists each shift.
  • Posts schedules two weeks in advance per policy.
Accounting
  • Ensures all paperwork is accurate and timely.
  • Maintains inventory and cash loss within company guidelines.
  • Conducts inventories, cash audits, cigarette counts, cost and supply audits as directed.
  • Ensures all store deposits are taken to the bank daily, including weekends.
  • Ensures sufficient change is available throughout all operating hours.
  • Ensures all required documents are sent to store analysts.
Human Resources
  • Treats all associates with dignity and respect, using proper personnel management techniques.
  • Ensures all associates receive breaks.
  • Advises division manager of personnel situations or policy violations affecting performance.
  • Commits to all training programs with the Trainer to ensure associates are trained.
  • Ensures associates properly record hours worked, following the “no work off the clock” policy.
  • Provides a harassment‑free environment.
  • Complies with Responsible Retailing policy.
  • Works with associates on ongoing training and development.
  • Records hours worked in workstation.
Security
  • Ensures all associate cash handling procedures are followed.
  • Ensures all security video surveillance equipment is operational.
  • Ensures a safe shopping and working environment.
  • Protects all company assets, including cash and merchandise.
  • Ensures vendor check‑in procedures are followed per policy.
  • Ensures cash is stored only in safe, cash register, and bank.
Merchandising
  • Ensures all promotional signs are posted on the assigned dates.
  • Uses current plan‑ograms.
  • Communicates with District Manager for special needs or requests.
  • Ensures all merchandise orders are sent properly to prevent out‑of‑stocks and maintain inventory levels.
  • Works with DSD vendors to maintain 100% stock.
  • Monitors inventory levels and communicates with Division Manager to prevent out‑of‑stocks.
  • Keeps food service areas clean and follows sanitation procedures.
Maintenance
  • Maintains floors clean and well‑kept.
  • Reports maintenance problems requiring assistance to Hucks Solution Center via Intranet.
  • Ensures all equipment is operational by maintaining proper procedures.
Safety
  • Ensures ladders are properly used.
  • Follows lifting procedures per policy.
  • Uses wet floor signs and floor dryers per policy.
  • Reports accidents promptly to District Manager and corporate office.
  • Reports all work‑related injuries.
  • Ensures all EPA regulations are met via UST procedures.
