Applies the principles of product quality planning, evaluation, and control to support the manufacturing and installation operations of the organization. The role ensures quality standards are maintained, customer issues are resolved, and continuous improvement is driven across processes and products.
Key Responsibilities:- Serve as primary contact for customers and freight forwarders for reporting quality issues.
- Track and publish DPMO (Defects Per Million Opportunities) reports for shipping accuracy and quality defects.
- Manage the Customer Quality Scorecard for the distribution center.
- Ensure 3PL partner accountability by driving problem‑solving and corrective actions for repeat and high‑risk quality spills.
- Collaborate with 3PL partner on continuous improvement initiatives to reduce customer‑facing quality issues.
- Coordinate between Central Customer Quality, onsite Cummins, and 3PL teams for resolving customer complaints and containment activities.
- Collaborate with onsite supplier quality team regarding supplier quality spills reported by customers.
- Lead containment activities.
- Facilitate continuous improvement quality activities to reduce potential defects and ensure ongoing improvement in processes and product design.
- Ensure products and process development meet quality standards.
- Identify problems, prioritize actions, and lead or participate in Six Sigma projects.
- Participate in change management by verifying products and processes, developing key measures, analyzing data, and presenting results to leadership.
- Lead audits of processes and quality systems.
- Serve as a quality technical resource to other functional areas.
- May coach and mentor quality analysts.
Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or Supply Chain Management; background in logistics or manufacturing preferred.
- Strong communication skills in email and phone correspondence; interaction with suppliers and vendors.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Quality in a manufacturing or supply chain / warehousing environment.
- Problem Solving, Cross‑functional Communication, and Data Analysis skills required.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or supply chain management.
