Job Description – Preventive Maintenance (PM) Planner

Position Overview

The Preventive Maintenance (PM) Planner will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all preventive maintenance activities Business Centre, covering the entire production line from Building and Curing section. The role requires a hands‑on Mechanical Engineer with a strong understanding of rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, presses, conveyors, and utility systems.

This position acts as a bridge between the maintenance execution team and production to ensure machine reliability, minimized downtime, and sustained equipment performance.

Key Responsibilities Preventive Maintenance Planning & Scheduling
  • Develop, update, and manage PM schedules for all plant equipment (Mixers, Mills, Calendars, Extruders, Bead section equipment, etc.).
  • Utilize CMMS / EAM software (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, Infor) to create and monitor PM tasks.
  • Ensure OEM recommendations, reliability studies, and plant experience are built into the PM program.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly PM plans, ensuring alignment with production schedules.
  • Plan resources (manpower, tools, spares, and consumables) needed for each PM activity.
Execution & Coordination
  • Work closely with production, maintenance supervisors, and stores to schedule PM activities with minimal production loss.
  • Issue daily/weekly PM job lists and follow up on completion.
  • Ensure execution quality by checking adherence to PM checklists and SOPs.
  • Track and verify closeout of PM tasks with proper documentation.
  • Coordinate with stores to ensure spare parts availability before PM execution.
Equipment Reliability & Improvement
  • Analyze PM findings and breakdown histories to refine PM frequency and scope.
  • Support condition monitoring activities (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, etc.).
  • Recommend and implement engineering solutions to recurring problems.
  • Support in root cause analysis (RCA) of chronic failures and incorporate learnings into PM.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain updated PM checklists, SOPs, drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, IATF, EHS and corporate standards.
  • Generate PM compliance reports (daily/weekly/monthly KPIs).
  • Track and report PM completion %, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), and Breakdown hours.
Key Interfaces
  • Production:
    Align PM schedules with production plans.
  • Maintenance Execution Team:
    Ensure work orders are executed per plan.
  • Stores & Procurement:
    Spares and consumables planning.
  • Engineering Projects:
    Feedback on equipment reliability and modifications.
  • Quality & EHS:
    Ensure machine safety compliance and quality impact.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Education:

    B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
  • Experience:

    5–7 years in maintenance planning / reliability engineering in tire manufacturing or heavy process industry (rubber, automotive, cement, steel, FMCG with high-speed machinery).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (must know some electrical system).
  • Hands‑on experience with PM planning tools and CMMS systems.
  • Good understanding of TPM, Reliability‑Centered Maintenance (RCM), 5S, Kaizen, and Lean Maintenance practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Good coordination, communication, and reporting skills.
Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • PM / PDM Schedule Compliance (%).
  • Unplanned Breakdown Hours.
  • MTBF / MTTR improvements.
  • Spare parts readiness during PM.
  • Execution quality – zero repeat failures post‑PM.
