Job Description

Attica Consolidated School Corporation is currently looking for a dedicated individual to serve as our corporation nurse. The corporation nurse works to assess, educate, and intervene as needed to provide a healthy school environment. The corporation nurse works closely with the Fountain County Health Department, as well as state health agencies, to maintain compliance and provide a comprehensive health program to the school corporation.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

* Evaluate health status/complaints of students and take appropriate action within the legal scope of nursing practice.

* Provide health counseling services to students and families with health-related problems and links to resources as needed. Corresponds with parents on the health needs of their child.

* Perform and supervise skilled nursing procedures as ordered by a physician/provider. Render emergency first aid care, complete incident reports when applicable.

* Recognize and act on communicable diseases present in school/community including mandatory reporting to the State Dept of Health.

* Administer medication according to ACSC policy and procedure.

* Participate with team members for student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP), and 504 plans, providing expertise and completing health assessments as indicated for initial, annual, and re-evaluations.

* Provide health assessments for students upon request of teachers, parents or staff. Informs appropriate school personnel of a student with health issues that may need accommodations during the school hours.

* Act as a liaison between parents, provider, and staff to verify medical needs, obtain physician authorization, and notify appropriate district personnel. Serve as a health education resource for students, staff, and families.

* Monitor and maintain up-to-date and accurate health records, including immunization records and medical alerts, electronic health record system, and/or Harmony when applicable as required by law, board policy, and administrative guidelines.

* Assist with scheduling and coordinating state-mandated health screenings, including collecting and reporting records for the annual Indiana School Health Report.

* Monitor compliance with immunization requirements according to legal mandates and Corporation policy and procedures. Oversees follow-up with non-compliant cases.

* Advocate for resources and services for students and families.

* Work collaboratively with other staff.

* Other duties as assigned that may arise but not recognized at this time.

Required Qualifications

● Bachelor's Degree in Nursing which will meet National Standards for School Nurse

● Registered Nurse's license through the Indiana State Board of Nursing/IPLA

● Valid CPR and AED Certification from an IDOE approved provider.

Salary - Contract - Benefits

* Starting salary dependent upon years of experience and education

* 190 Days (5 days before school starts, 5 days after school ends)
