Position: System Nursing Evidence-Based Practice Specialist

Shift: 1.0 FTE Day Shift

We are seeking a dedicated nursing professional to lead efforts in standardizing policies, supporting nursing programs, and fostering a culture of inquiry and scholarship organization wide.

Position Overview

The System Nursing Evidence-Based Practice Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing nursing practice through the promotion of evidence-based initiatives, research, and leadership development. This role is for a nurse who wants to be close to practice and make a real, visible difference. As the System Evidence-Based Practice Specialist, you’ll help bring evidence to life by implementing a systemwide strategy that strengthens how nurses ask questions, improve care, and lead changes.

You’ll work alongside nurses, leaders, and councils to translate evidence into action, building confidence, capability, and consistency in evidence-based practice across the organization. A big part of this role is mentoring others, developing EBP capability, and helping teams move from ideas to outcomes that matter. The work is fast-paced, collaborative, and deeply connected to our nursing culture. You’ll be influencing how nurses think, learn, and grow;

helping shape an environment where evidence-based practice is expected, supported, and celebrated. Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee nursing programs, councils, and scholarly activities to promote professional development.
  • Manage nursing reports and support Magnet and Pathways to Excellence initiatives within IU Health facilities.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with academic institutions and nursing organizations.
  • Mentor and coach nurses in evidence-based practice, research, and clinical inquiry.
  • Facilitate investigation of clinical practice questions and research opportunities to enhance nursing care.
  • Support dissemination of nursing work through presentations, posters, and publications at national conferences.
  • Foster a culture of inquiry, innovation, and continuous improvement in nursing practice.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Master’s Degree preferred. Doctorate Degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience: 7-10 years of relevant nursing experience.
  • Licensure &

    Certifications:

    Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Skills & Knowledge: Strong knowledge of evidence-based practice methodologies and implementation strategies. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Additional: 5-day Evidence-Based Practice Immersion Course completion strongly preferred.
