This department at University Hospital is a robust multispecialty clinic that services 2,600 patients per month! This position will focus primarily supports triage for the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic in the Pulmonary Service Line.
ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities for this position include:
New patient education, phone triage, patient notification of pathology/diagnostic testing results, decreasing MD time with return patients in clinic by providing RN assessment and education, prescription renewals, preauthorization of medications, precertification of procedures, management needs (home care referrals, supply needs, therapy referrals), monitors patients and facilitates the direct admission process, directly and indirectly supports assigned physician(s) during clinic sessions.
Core hours:
Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
No weekends! No holidays!
Qualifications- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
- Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN);
Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred. - Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Two years experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.
- Knowledge of procedures for performing the functions appropriate to the specific clinical area and familiarity with designated pieces of equipment and supplies.
- Requires ability to coordinate a number of functions for a group of patients in an effective timely manner.
- Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.
