Job DescriptionPurpose of Your Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) assists the Director of Nursing Services in planning, organizing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department to ensure the highest level of resident care. This role upholds compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting excellence in care delivery through leadership, clinical skill, and teamwork.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct rounds with physicians as needed to assess and support resident care.
Perform daily rounds to monitor resident well-being and ensure nursing needs are met.
Oversee medication passes and treatment schedules for accuracy and timeliness.
Report medication errors or irregularities to the Director of Nursing immediately.
Provide direct nursing care and clinical oversight as required.
đź§Ľ Safety and Sanitation
Monitor nursing staff to ensure adherence to established safety and infection control standards.
Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in all resident care and nursing work areas.
Ensure treatment rooms, medication prep areas, and resident rooms meet health and safety requirements.
⚙️ Equipment and Supply Management
Ensure adequate stock of medications, medical supplies, and equipment at all times.
Report supply shortages or equipment issues promptly to the Director of Nursing.
Maintain organized and secure storage for all nursing materials and medications.
đź“‹ Care Planning and Assessment
Participate in the development and review of individualized resident care plans.
Assist the Resident Assessment/Care Plan Coordinator with MDS completion, RAPs, and care plan updates.
Encourage residents and family members to actively participate in care planning and review.
Ensure nursing staff are familiar with and follow each resident’s care plan.
Regularly review nurses’ notes to verify care plan compliance and update documentation as needed.
Foster a collaborative, team-based approach to comprehensive resident care.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all resident care information.
Ensure residents are treated with fairness, dignity, and compassion at all times.
Support and educate staff regarding residents’ rights and responsibilities, including the right to refuse treatment.
Investigate and report resident complaints, grievances, or abuse allegations in accordance with facility policy.
Maintain written records of all complaints, actions taken, and outcomes.
Communicate advance directive policies and procedures to residents and families as needed.
