Position Summary
The Food Pantry Support Coordinator facilitates the growth and efficiency of Indy Hunger Network’s food pantry network partners. This role focuses on providing technical assistance to pantry leadership, coordinating a unified grant program for large and small-scale operational improvements, and supporting professional development initiatives such as the Food Pantry Summit. The Coordinator serves as a key liaison to help pantries increase their capacity to provide nutritious food to the community.
Key ResponsibilitiesCapacity Building & Grant Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Food Pantry Grant Program, guiding partners through the application and implementation process.
- Conduct site visits to assess pantry operations and identify opportunities for significant infrastructure, operational, and/or equipment improvements.
- Provide technical assistance to pantry leaders to help them achieve goals related to increasing the volume and nutritional quality of food provided to neighbors.
- Manage grant administrative tasks, including maintaining documentation, conducting due diligence, and compiling impact metrics.
Educational Programming & Networking
- Assist in the planning and execution of the annual Food Pantry Summit, including speaker coordination, session logistics, and material preparation.
- Support Food Pantry Coalition meetings by providing logistical support and identifying meeting topics such as fundraising, succession planning, and operational best practices.
- Facilitate in-depth learning opportunities and peer‑to‑peer networking for pantry leadership.
Network Support & Administration
- Support IHN data collection efforts and other food assistance initiatives as assigned by the Director.
- Collaborate with partner organizations to align program goals with the broader mission of eliminating hunger disparities in Greater Indianapolis.
- Actively participate in IHN staff meetings and professional development.
- Experience: 1+ year of experience in food systems, nutrition, dietetics, or non-profit program coordination.

Proven ability to communicate clearly and professionally with diverse community partners and stakeholders. - Organizational
Skills:
Self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines. - Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Google G‑Suite, and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom).
- Logistics: Reliable transportation for travel throughout Central Indiana.
- Ability to walk up and down steps.
- Ability to stand for up to 2 hours at a time.
- Ability to lift at least 20 pounds.
