Volunteer Program Intern Unpaid

Indy Humane is seeking a collaborative, energetic individual who is passionate about both animals and people to serve as our Volunteer Program Intern for Spring 2025
. This intern will support the Volunteer and Camp Manager in key aspects of volunteer engagement, including maintaining and auditing the volunteer database, assisting with onboarding, and updating program materials. The role offers hands‑on experience in volunteer coordination and nonprofit administration.

• Current college student
• Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred
• 15-20 hours per week availability

• Audit and update Volunteer Management database.
• Send engagement communications to current and prospective volunteers.
• Develop and communicate a working knowledge of Indy Humane’s mission and services.
• Develop an understanding of departmental functions and volunteer support needs.
• Contribute ideas for improving processes or programs offered by volunteer department.
• Assist in planning and execution of volunteer onboarding process.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.

• Excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation
• Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to represent Indy Humane in a professional manner
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and social media platforms
• Comfort and ease speaking with volunteers
• Familiarity with volunteer management best practices
• Good time‑management skills

Hours are flexible and may include occasional evening or weekend events if is able to attend.
