Job Overview
Charles Industries is seeking a motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our production team in Whitestown, Indiana. This role focuses on developing, improving, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production, high product quality, and cost-effective operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in manufacturing environments, particularly with plastic manufacturing processes such as injection molding and extrusion. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to drive continuous improvement and support the development of new manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, improve, and optimize manufacturing processes including extrusion, injection molding, assembly, and packaging.
- Support new product introductions by working closely with product design and product management teams to ensure manufacturability.
- Conduct process validation and verification to ensure product quality and compliance with industry standards.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, cost reduction, and waste minimization.
- Collaborate with tooling and equipment designers to develop molds, dies, fixtures, and manufacturing tools.
- Evaluate product and tooling designs for manufacturability, efficiency, and maintenance requirements.
- Create work instructions and setup procedures for new equipment and production processes.
- Assist in training production teams on new processes and equipment.
- Develop preventive maintenance schedules for new machinery and equipment.
- Work with quality teams to implement and maintain quality control procedures.
- Investigate production issues using root cause analysis and failure analysis techniques.
- Manage projects including timelines, milestones, and implementation plans for manufacturing improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Manufacturing, Plastics Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering, preferably in plastic product manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of plastics manufacturing processes, including injection molding and extrusion.
- Experience working in manufacturing plant environments.
- Proficiency in CAD software for tooling and fixture design.
- Understanding of quality standards and methodologies such as ISO or ASTM.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Plastics Engineering.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing.
- Knowledge of tooling design and manufacturing equipment optimization.
