The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, ensuring that production goals are met efficiently and safely. This role involves coordinating with team leads, managing workforce allocation, and ensuring quality standards are upheld throughout the production process. This role is key in achieving high levels of production efficiency, ensuring quality, maintaining a safe workspace, and fostering cross-department collaboration.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management:
- Supervise and direct production employees to achieve production targets.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Operational Efficiency:
- Plan and allocate resources to meet production schedules and minimize downtime.
- Monitor production output, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency.
- Drive initiatives to reduce waste, optimize workflows, and improve overall productivity.
Quality Control:
- Ensure that all products meet quality specifications and standards.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to address product defects and implement corrective actions.
- Enforce adherence to company policies and procedures to maintain high-quality production.
Safety & Compliance:
- Promote a culture of safety by enforcing safe work practices and ensuring compliance with OSHA and company regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and address potential hazards.
- Lead incident investigations and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead Kaizen or lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and achieve operational excellence.
Communication & Reporting:
- Communicate production updates and challenges to senior management.
- Prepare and maintain production reports, shift logs, and performance metrics.
- Foster clear communication channels between departments to ensure seamless operations.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
- Ability to analyze data and implement effective solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production management software.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Education, Certificates & or Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- 5+ years of experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment or a bachelors degree in a related field.
- Experience with ERP systems and production scheduling tools is advantageous.
- Lean Six Sigma or related certifications are a plus.
