Overview
We are currently hiring a Plant MP&L / Materials Manager that can bring strong leadership, JIT/Lean expertise, ERP proficiency (like SAP or QAD), inventory optimization skills, supplier relationship management, and advanced problem-solving. Focusing on flawless material flow, minimal waste, and high quality to support lean manufacturing. Materials Manager Core Knowledge & Skills Just-In-Time (JIT) / Lean Manufacturing:
Deep understanding of JIT principles, continuous improvement (Kaizen), waste reduction, and managing material flow in lean environments.
- Oversee all material planning, scheduling, inventory accuracy, shipping, receiving, and logistics functions for the facility.
- Utilize MRP within the ERP systems to optimize material flow, production schedules, and inventory levels.
- Ensure accurate and timely issuance of production plans, inventory reporting, and capacity analyses.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across material flow, warehouse operations, logistics, and supply chain processes.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality teams to support production goals and new program launches.
- Lead or support the implementation, rollout, and stabilization of ERP systems, including project planning, testing, training, and process mapping.
- Develop and maintain KPIs for department performance, including inventory turns, schedule adherence, freight cost, and delivery performance.
- Manage relationships with suppliers, logistics providers, and internal stakeholders to resolve material constraints and ensure reliable supply.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, customer requirements, and industry standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment with progressively increasing responsibility.
- Strong understanding of MRP systems and materials planning principles.
- Hands-on ERP experience, specifically SAP or QAD or equal ERP Programs.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including successful leadership of an ERP system launch or major system upgrade.
- Proven ability to manage teams and drive results in a high‑volume, fast‑paced production environment.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools.
- Background working with Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive suppliers.
- Experience with demand forecasting, SIOP/S&OP processes, or advanced planning systems.
