Job Summary

The Plastic Tote Welder is responsible for repairing plastic containers such as IBC totes, drums and similar storage units using heat welding tools and techniques. This role ensures all repaired containers meet quality and safety standards for reuse in production or distribution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand, uphold, and abide by the Company’s vision, mission and core values.
  • Maintain strict adherence to all Company policies, processes and procedures in accordance with the Employee Manual, the Safety Manual, Department Manual(s), and The Animal Food Safety Plan.
  • Show up to work on time, as scheduled.
  • Follow verbal and written work instructions and production guidelines.
  • Don appropriate PPE, including Safety Shoes, while in the plant.
  • Inspect damaged plastic totes and determine the appropriate method of repair.
  • Perform plastic welding using hot air, extrusion, or ultrasonic welding equipment.
  • Patch, weld, or reshape plastic components to restore tote integrity.
  • Maintain and operate welding tools and safety equipment properly.
  • Record and report completed repairs and material usage.
  • Follow safety procedures and use appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area.
  • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of welding equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with quality control and other departments to ensure standards are met.
  • Attend all Company meetings and trainings as directed by management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience using hot‑air welders, extrusion welders, ultrasonic welders, or similar plastic repair tools preferred (or willingness to learn).
  • Basic understanding of plastics, material handling, and repair techniques.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, production standards, and safety procedures.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination for precise welding and patching work.
  • Ability to use hand tools, cutting tools, and shop equipment safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects and structural weaknesses.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and commitment to maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and QA teams.
  • No jewelry or any kind (rings, bracelets, watches, necklaces, earrings, facial piercings, etc.).
  • No visible piercings, including tongue, lip, eyebrow, or nose piercings.
  • No exception for “covered” or “taped” jewelry.
Requirements Physical Abilities
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and reach for extended periods during shift.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull plastic totes, tools and supplies up to 50–75 lbs regularly.
  • Manual dexterity to operate welding tools, grinders, knives, scrapers, and heat equipment.
  • Ability to work around heated tools, plastic fumes, and potentially noisy environments (PPE provided/required).
  • Visual acuity to inspect materials, detect cracks/damage, and ensure weld quality.
  • Hearing ability sufficient to communicate with team members and respond to alarms or safety signals.
  • Ability to work in a production/warehouse environment including exposure to temperature changes, odors and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE including gloves, safety glasses, steel‑toe boots and respirator/mask when required.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or extended shifts when business needs dictate.
