Reporting to the maintenance Group Leader, the Maintenance Technician is responsible to repair or replace defective parts and equipment as well as perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that our machines continue to run smoothly. In addition, this position ensures our building systems operate efficiently, our building and grounds are maintained and aids in the maintenance of our trucks, fork trucks and other manufacturing vehicles.
- Support production operations for all maintenance requirements, including electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
- Perform preventive, predictive and routine inspection maintenance on CNC Machines and other equipment.
- Major machine component troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs such as drives, motors, pumps, spindles, ball screws, mechanical and electrical evaluation.
- Work from available drawings and equipment specifications and schematics.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Assist with general facility maintenance.
- Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches to precision measuring instruments, electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them.
- Read blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
- Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
- Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance at required intervals.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area utilizing 5S techniques.
- Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred. Relevant vocational, apprenticeship, or trade schools highly recommended.
- Prefer 5 – 7 years in a maintenance/machine repair position with a manufacturing company that utilizes electro-mechanical machines and equipment in a production environment.
- Reasoning ability diagrammatic reasoning:
Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions written and oral, and diagrammatic or schedule form. - Mathematical skills:
Algebra – calculate variables and formulas, monomials and polynomials, Geometry – calculate plane and solid figures, circumference, area, volume and understand kinds of angles and properties of pairs of angles. Shop math – add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure. - Language
Skills:
Ability to read safety rules, instructions, procedures, mechanical drawings and finding information in existing documentation. - Knowledge of CNC controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, electrical, and preventive maintenance is required.
- Must be able to read machine and electrical prints.
- Must have experience troubleshooting both electrical and mechanical issues.
- Must be able to troubleshoot machine issues utilizing ladder logic and electrical diagrams.
- Proficiency with Hydraulic and Pneumatic Components, Valves, Cylinders, and Pressure Regulators.
- Must be able to troubleshoot issues with solenoids and fix broken lines on pneumatic equipment.
