As a CNC Machinist at PWI, you will operate and maintain mill and lathe equipment to produce high-quality parts, tooling, and prototypes. You will interpret job travelers, advise on machining strategies, and ensure timely completion of work. This role includes managing in-process inspections, coordinating with vendors when needed, and communicating material movement to support smooth production flow.
Responsibilities- Program, set up, and operate Haas CNC mills and lathes.
- Use Autodesk Fusion 360 to create and modify CNC programs.
- Develop tooling setups and machining strategies for new and existing parts.
- Produce prototypes and custom parts to support engineering and production needs.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and travelers to ensure part accuracy.
- Perform in-process and final inspections to verify tolerances and quality.
- Identify and correct quality issues before parts move to the next stage.
- Maintain machines, tooling, and a clean, organized work area.
- Communicate clearly with engineers, supervisors, and production teams regarding job needs and improvements.

- Experience operating CNC mills and lathes (Haas experience preferred).
- Experience programming CNC machines using Fusion 360 or similar software.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Experience with tooling setup and prototyping preferred.
- Forklift certification may be required
- Familiar with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Comfortable selecting and setting up tooling for various machining needs.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Regularly required to stand for extended periods and operate machinery.
- Frequently required to lift, carry, and move materials and parts.
- Vision requirements include close vision detailed inspection work.
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Able to interpret technical information and apply sound judgment.
- Able to communicate clearly with team members regarding job status and needs.
- Willing to work on-site at PWI in Nappanee, Indiana
