Overview

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day operations of a highly automated production system with a small team of operators. This role focuses on safe, efficient, and high-quality production while coordinating closely with cross-functional teams to meet operational and customer requirements. The supervisor serves as both a people leader and a technical resource, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting performance reviews and employee development discussions
  • Assisting with hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members
  • Addressing attendance, behavior, and performance concerns
  • Providing input related to compensation adjustments
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for employee questions and concerns

Performance Indicators:

  • Completion and timeliness of employee evaluations
2. Production & Operations Management

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support to operators
  • Gaining a strong working knowledge of materials used within the production process
  • Becoming proficient in production automation and control systems
  • Acting as a liaison for schedule changes, customer needs, maintenance issues, and production constraints
  • Ensuring adherence to operating procedures, safety standards, and quality requirements
  • Maintaining and updating departmental procedures to align with best practices
  • Training and coaching operators on processes, equipment, and standard work
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement and waste reduction
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives and project implementation
  • Coordinating activities with other supervisors, leads, and departments
  • Assigning work, monitoring progress, and adjusting resources as needed
  • Escalating quality concerns and supporting root cause analysis
  • Communicating production performance, efficiencies, and challenges to management
  • Immediately reporting and addressing non-conforming product or process issues

Performance Indicators:

  • Customer issues related to production
  • Recordable incidents and safety compliance
  • Productivity and output metrics
  • Housekeeping and organization standards
  • Material waste levels
3. Professional Standards & Conduct

  • Reporting to work on time and returning promptly from breaks and meetings
