Plant Manager

Essential Functions Safety & Environmental
  • Promote and ensure plant compliance with all State, Federal, company, and MSHA rules and regulations.
  • Maintain awareness of site hazards and implement safe job planning and procedures.
People
  • Provide training and instructions so employees perform their duties.
  • Manage employee development, including coaching, disciplinary counseling, performance reviews.
  • Partner with HR Business Partner for employee issues—investigations, disciplinary actions, hiring, terminations, and changes.
  • Maintain a positive working environment to support employee productivity, operational efficiency, customer service, retention, and morale.
  • Collaborate with Sales to align production with customer needs.
  • Collaborate with Quality Manager to meet product compliance.
  • Engage outside vendors for facility performance services.
  • Coordinate plant clerk work assignments.
Performance/Reporting
  • Plan and schedule production to meet daily, weekly, and monthly sales forecasts.
  • Maintain and update production operating and inventory data.
  • Participate in developing an annual operating budget, including production volume and capital improvements.
  • Manage costs and production to meet or exceed budgets.
  • Track and report key performance indicators such as tons per operating hour, uptime, delays, mobile fuel consumption, electrical consumption, drilling and blasting cost.
Quality Control
  • Ensure production meets state and customer requirements.
  • Manage quality control personnel in coordination with the quality control manager.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to resolve customer quality issues.
Innovation
  • Use production data to identify opportunities to optimize plant and equipment.
  • Work with engineering to develop long‑term capital replacement needs.
  • Collaborate with sales to identify new product opportunities for customers.
  • Identify cost‑saving and continuous improvement activities to enhance operating efficiency.
Community/Personal
  • Leverage resources and recommendations for community relations and legislative efforts; actively participate in community outreach and educational programs.
  • Identify personal development needs to enable career growth.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including continuous growth in alignment with the company’s core values, competencies, and skills.
Education Qualifications
  • Required – High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred – Bachelor’s degree.
Experience Qualifications
  • Required – 1+ years of supervisory experience in a salaried or hourly lead‑man role, and a minimum of 5 years experience, preferably in the aggregate industry.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent leadership, verbal and written communication, and problem‑resolution skills.
  • Ability to motivate employees and build effective teams.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time‑management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel) and other relevant software/system packages.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical components, cutting, welding, and lifting procedures.
  • Frequent travel to company and customer sites.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
  • Continuous standing or walking on level or uneven ground.
  • Ability to ascend/descend ladders, stairways, and catwalks.
  • Capability to bend, crouch, and/or kneel at waist or knees.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Work outdoors most of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions; exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions.
