Responsible for fabricating, machining, and repairing precision tools, dies, gauges, and fixtures used by customers in manufacturing processes. Utilize technical drawings and various equipment such as manual and CNC lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM sinker and wire to produce high-quality components. Ensure adherence to tight tolerances and specifications while optimizing production efficiency and minimizing downtime.
PositionEssential Functions and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Create precision tools, dies, gauges, jigs, and fixtures according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Utilize various machining techniques such as milling, grinding, drilling, turning, and EDM sinker and wire to shape and finish metal components to tight tolerances.
Choose appropriate materials and tooling based on factors such as strength, hardness, and wear resistance. Inspect, maintain, and repair existing tools to ensure functionality and longevity, including sharpening cutting edges and replacing worn parts. Keep equipment clean to ensure quality.
Perform meticulous inspections using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications and ensure high-quality output.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tooling, such as dimensional inaccuracies, tool wear, or production inefficiencies.
Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency gains, and cost savings in tooling design, fabrication, and maintenance procedures.
Adhere to safety protocols, regulatory standards, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
