Overview
Girl Scouts of Central Indiana seeks a Chief Advancement Officer to report to the CEO. This is a full-time, exempt position located at Founder’s Lodge Event & Conference Center with an annual salary of $ and pay grade 20.
What You Will DoThe Chief Advancement Officer reports to the Chief Executive Officer and partners with the CEO, senior staff, and board to set direction and ensure organizational longevity through a multifaceted strategy that advances the mission of Girl Scouts. You will lead a cohesive and strategically aligned Advancement Team—including fund development, marketing, and communications—to drive a unified vision supporting organizational priorities and sustainable revenue growth.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing integrated strategies that strengthen donor relationships, diversify and expand fundraising capacity, elevate mission-aligned storytelling, and increase income through a balanced mix of revenue streams. Using data-informed decision-making, you will monitor development activities, oversee performance, and maintain forward momentum across advancement functions.
The successful applicant will bring proven experience as a fundraiser and organizational leader, with at least 10 years of management experience in a nonprofit or similar environment. The Chief Advancement Officer must be mission-driven, strategic, and able to solve complex problems, lead teams, inspire collaboration, and cultivate a culture of philanthropy. A passion for relationship-based fundraising and advancing the mission of Girl Scouting is essential.
HowYou Will Lead
- Build and lead a cohesive, strategically aligned advancement team—including fund development, marketing, and communications—ensuring all functions operate under a unified vision and coordinated organizational strategy.
- Lead the council’s overall fund development strategy in partnership with the CEO, senior staff, and board, and direct the Fund Development Team’s annual strategic plan.
- Support the CEO in fundraising efforts, including engagement of their donor portfolio, while managing a personal portfolio of major gift prospects.
- Design and continuously improve donor experience models and ensure relationship-based development practices that strengthen long-term engagement.
- Expand and diversify fundraising capacity across individuals, events, foundations, and corporations, and lead implementation of campaigns, annual solicitations, events, and proposals.
- Set annual fundraising goals, manage revenue and expense budgets, and establish performance metrics to monitor development activities and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
- Lead the advancement function’s integrated marketing and communications strategy to support programs, membership, retail, donor engagement, and ensure consistent mission-aligned storytelling grounded in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration and cultivate a council-wide culture of philanthropy aligned with organizational priorities.
