Fleet Manager at Shiel Sexton

The Fleet Manager will have responsibility for overall coordination of fleet service programs including the maintenance, procurement, and inventory management for the company. Serves as the coordinator working closely with stakeholders across the organization. This position plays a critical role in operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and cost control across a multi‑location organization.

Role Responsibilities And Competencies
  • Direct, plan, and implement policies or processes related to the cross‑functional coordination of fleet services to ensure continuing operations, compliance, risk management and efficiency. Includes purchasing, vendor management, accident reporting, and inventory management.
  • Recommend and implement programs to ensure alignment of fleet services programs across the organization.
  • Ensure registrations and renewals are acquired and tracked accurately in a centralized system.
  • Responsible for accurate inventory management of fleet across all businesses. Assign vehicles and maintain tracker.
  • Maintain database and prepare regular reports on relevant tracking metrics.
  • Coordinate the financial and budget activities to acquire vehicles, maximize investments, and streamline processes.
  • Implement and manage the maintenance schedules and repair activities for the company’s fleet of vehicles. Ensure effective fleet schedules to optimize vehicle performance and longevity.
  • Manage, implement, and improve processes to ensure the business units have a viable and well‑maintained fleet, develop fleet replacement cycles, capital requirements, and priorities of asset re‑deployment.
  • Implement and manage maintenance and repair plan for entire corporate fleet and verify that all such procedures are performed on a timely basis and at the proper interval.
  • Responsible for procurement of vehicles across all divisions in accordance with company purchasing policy. Work with applicable business unit heads and vendors to establish standard vehicle specifications per divisional recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable DOT, CDL, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee installation, maintenance, and operation of fleet telematics and GPS devices, including training and hardware support.
  • Develop and manage fleet asset management SOP (standard operating procedures).
  • Support the development of fleet maintenance budgets and capital expenditures on an annual basis.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in fleet operations management
  • Degree or related experience in business, logistics, or fleet operations
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and the ability to incorporate new technology solutions to processes
  • Able to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others
  • Works independently with strong sense of accountability
  • Ability to build and maintain effective and professional relationships through strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship‑building, clear communication and consistent demonstration of solid professional judgment
