Job SummaryThe Distribution Tech team within US Retail Markets (USRM) is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead key teams within our Book Transfer portfolio. This role will hire, manage, and deploy engineering resources to align with business priorities, coach teams, foster collaboration, and ensure continuous delivery of high-quality, secure, and scalable code. The portfolio drives ~$200–$250M/year in new business and expands internal migrations.
Responsibilities- Ensures application or portfolio of platforms are enhanced and maintained to meet business functional needs.
- Understands the business domain and product vision; aligns work with Product Owner, Scrum Master, Architect, and other team members.
- Monitors team effectiveness and addresses issues affecting productivity.
- Supports team members in addressing or escalating issues to improve overall team efficiency.
- Removes roadblocks and manages interdependence when needed.
- Initiates and fosters collaborative partnerships with clients, technology, and business managers, vendors, and executives.
- Manages the quality of work delivered by team members and deals effectively with performance issues in a timely manner.
- Coordinates and delivers performance reviews and drives professional development, including rotations and special assignments.
- Provides mentoring experiences and relevant technical coaching and support to team members.
- Hires talent and actively engages in recruiting processes.
- Coordinates with vendors to ensure consistent talent management, onboarding, and transition.
- Participates in developing business and technology vision, strategies, critical success factors, and operating plans for application, unit, or platform.
- May establish financial plan for application or portfolio and manage planning.
- May lead efforts to evaluate, select, and implement new technologies to enhance applications or platforms.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a technical or business discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience delivering software solutions in an agile environment.
- Minimum 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Able to manage complex technology development concepts, capabilities, and maturity.
- Excellent analytical ability, consultative communication, presentation, and management skills; strong judgment and ability to liaise with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to operate collaboratively and build consensus; in-depth knowledge of technology standards and guidelines; knowledge of management concepts and practices; thorough knowledge of business functions and operations, objectives, and strategies.
- Ability to travel approximately 15–20%.
