The Impact You’ll Make in this RoleAs an Electrician, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair process sensing devices (humidity, speed, vacuum, pressure, level, weight, tension, flow, viscosity, etc.) and entire industrial process control systems, including electronic, digital, analog, pneumatic, and mechanical control systems.
- Install electrical and pneumatic components on standalone production equipment.
- Work with both AC and DC motors and drive systems ranging from .25 to 300 HP.
- Make PLC programming changes, back up electronic files and update blueprints as changes have been made.
- Read and work to the indicated accuracy, specifications, and tolerances as detailed on engineering drawings, machine assembly prints, equipment manuals, etc.
- Set up, operate, and read precision testing and measuring instruments to the manufacturer’s specifications of accuracy.
- Work from written and verbal instructions with cross‑functional teams, including engineering groups, manufacturing groups, vendors, etc., all while observing and following 3M safety rules, 3M Guide to Conduct, and Plant Engineering departmental and site work rules.
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
- At least three (3) years of experience as an Electrical Technician in an industrial setting in a private, public, government, or military environment.
- Availability to work weekends, overtime, and holidays on a three or four crew work schedule both inside and outside.
- Experience with programmable logic controllers, AC & DC drive controls, pneumatic, analog and digital electronics, including computer/microprocessor control systems.
- Basic mathematics and basic computer skills.
- Qualified applicants must take and pass 3M employment testing as part of the selection process.
