Job Description
Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities and Grounds, the Skilled Maintenance Technician Landscaper performs semi-skilled work in the maintenance, care, and modification of the Park Tudor grounds and landscapes. This includes the operation of electrically powered and gasoline-powered groundskeeping equipment and machines, and the use of small hand and power tools or equipment in planting, cultivating, and trimming grounds and landscaping.
In addition to landscaping tasks, this position includes a variety of maintenance tasks including building maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building systems. This position will work closely with the facilities management team and other departments to support operations, ensure compliance with safety and codes, and enhance the aesthetic and functional quality of the property.
This is a full-time, non-exempt, twelve-month position that may involve working overtime and on weekends as needed.
- Maintain the physical condition of outdoor facilities of the campus by performing a wide variety of basic landscaping and repair tasks including but not limited to: general upkeep and repair tasks, string trimming, mowing and edging, raking, weeding and bed work, pruning of shrubbery and light tree pruning, leaf removal, blowing of hard surfaces, transplanting and planting materials, assisting with landscape cleanup projects
- Perform general grounds cleanup, including the removal of rubbish and other debris from fields, parking lots, rooftops, gutters and other outdoor areas
- Operate a variety of hand and light power tools, including walk-behind and small riding mowers, power sweepers, chainsaws and blowers. The operator performs general user maintenance on this equipment, including but not limited to greasing, blade changes, belts, fueling, and maintaining proper oil levels
- Operate snow removal equipment – shovel, plow, and salt driveways, parking areas, sidewalks and steps as appropriate
- Inspect and maintain playground surface material on campus
- Perform and complete minor electrical projects, plumbing repairs, changing ceiling tiles, carpentry repairs, mechanical repairs, painting, and HVAC repairs with minimal supervision
- Review and respond to maintenance work orders (tickets) submitted through a ticketing system, diagnose issues, perform necessary repairs, and update the ticket status
- Perform minor maintenance tasks such as cleaning up spills, replacing light bulbs, addressing plumbing fixture leaks, and removing obstructions from sinks and toilets, patching and painting of interior and exterior building surfaces, setups and breakdowns for events on campus
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized projects/repairs as needed
- Move furniture and/or equipment within buildings as required for various campus activities (event setups and tear downs)
- Drive school vehicles as needed
- Maintain job-site safety for co-workers and the public including traffic control and minimization of hazardous conditions
- Conform with all safety rules and practices, and perform work in a safe manner
- Report immediately to the Director of Facilities and Grounds any repairs that need attention and/or damage to school property
- Deliver excellent customer service to diverse audiences. Respond to customer service requests, questions and complaints. Maintain a positive customer service demeanor and deliver service in a respectful and patient manner
- Arrive to work, meetings, and other work-related functions on time and maintain regular job attendance
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Grounds and/or School Administration
- Inspect school grounds, athletic fields and other assigned areas, identify safety hazards and maintenance needs, and report accordingly
Qualification Requirements
Education

High School Diploma/GED is required.
Experience
:
At least two years of professional experience in groundskeeping is preferred, where knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in planting, cultivating, and trimming a variety of types of trees, shrubs, ground…
