Job SummaryThe Team Lead has general responsibility for coordinating and overseeing all operational activities, working under the Operations Supervisor, overseeing warehousing, receiving, and shipping functions in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Training – Mentor and train new and existing associates in specific distribution activities and Standard Operating Procedures such as shipping, receiving, picking, and quality control; assist with forklift operation and certification.
- Shipping/Receiving – Oversee unloading of inbound shipments, stack product, coordinate picking and staging of outbound shipments, verify paperwork, load orders onto appropriate trailers, process functions as defined by SOP, and investigate discrepancies.
- Customer Service – Conduct oneself professionally in appearance and communications; communicate with customers via phone, email, or in person; prepare accurate activity reports for management.
- Quality Control – Verify that products and orders meet quality standards, report damages or discrepancies, perform packaging, shrink‑wrapping, labeling, and report inconsistencies to the supervisor or manager; participate in quality meetings.
- Safety, Housekeeping & Compliance – Comply with ISO, safety protocols, and OSHA/MSDS Standards; maintain a clean, orderly work area; participate in safety meetings; ensure the safety of personnel and vehicles.
- Labor Management – Direct the warehouse work team to achieve objectives; assist with payroll hour capture; maintain staffing levels; schedule work; report to the supervisor and manager.
- Equipment Operation – Operate forklifts, reach trucks, sweepers, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, aisle masters, pallet jacks; perform daily equipment checks; maintain active forklift certification.
- Maintenance – Assist with building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
- Other Duties – Perform clerical and administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling, filing, greeting visitors, and other duties as directed by site management.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year experience in a logistics, distribution or related environment.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment (MHE) and maintain forklift certification.
- Comfortable working in unregulated warehouse temperatures.
- Basic computer skills; familiarity with RF scanners and WMS systems.
- English language skills – reading, writing, verbal.
- 2–4 years experience in a warehouse/logistics/distribution environment.
- Proven forklift experience and current or prior MHE certification.
- Occasionally – hand and finger manipulation, sitting, handling product and packaging materials.
- Frequently – bending, walking, standing.
- Constantly – walking and standing, lifting 21–50 pounds, reaching above shoulder height, squatting, or kneeling.
Exposure to fumes or airborne particles and caustic chemicals; noise level is usually low to moderate.
