Position Summary

Under the supervision of department leadership, the Facilities Technician II is responsible for the general maintenance of Versiti equipment, building and grounds. Ensure facilities and equipment are clean, well-functioning and orderly. This role fulfills service requests in a timely manner, analyzes problems, and implements solutions while working with the Facilities team and internal customers. The Facilities Technician II may provide insight into projects as the subject matter expert and operate as the lead project manager when assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of hands-on repair and maintenance work in buildings, grounds, equipment and environmental safety.
  • Reviews and adheres to Versiti policies, equipment guidelines and SOPs prior to task completion; demonstrates Versiti core values and holds others accountable to them.
  • Maintains professionalism when working around donors, visitors, and employees; completes work timely and leaves work areas tidy and orderly.
  • Performs maintenance and repair of building equipment and grounds in a safe, workmanlike manner.
  • Maintains accurate maintenance logs, calendars, schedules and other administrative tools used by the department.
  • Participates in improving building and equipment efficiencies by refining practices and coordinating schedules with outside contractors/vendors.
  • Provides guidance on projects as SME and may act as lead project manager for small to large-scale projects; coordinates contractors and ensures schedules are updated and projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Backfills for Technician I responsibilities as needed.
  • Participates in the on-call system to provide facilities assistance 24/7 to address urgent issues.
  • Acts as the lead on specific projects requiring oversight of Versiti personnel and/or outside contractors; does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications Education
  • High School Diploma required
  • General Education Diploma (GED) required
  • Associate's Degree in related field preferred
Experience
  • 1-3 years of facilities-related experience required
  • 4-6 years preferred
  • Experience as a Project Manager for large-scale facilities or equipment-related projects is a plus
Required Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of building maintenance operations, service activities, safety management, and applicable laws, codes and standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; effective communication with donors, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours and local and statewide travel may be required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; multi-task; handle confidential information; work under high stress or tight deadlines; maintain a professional image and high level of customer service.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certification in building maintenance areas (e.g., electrician, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC) preferred
  • Valid State Driver’s License required
Tools and Technology
  • Basic computer skills;
    Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; ability to maintain simple databases and documents
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and proficiently
