Position Brand DescriptionThe Associate Director – Purchasing is responsible for leading the purchasing organization for the assembly and packaging site Indianapolis Device Assembly and Packaging (IDAP). The Associate Director’s team supports analysis of purchasing needs, placing orders with suppliers, ensuring proper inventory levels are maintained, and general support of the supply chain and logistics team including:
Shop Floor Control, Material Requirements Planning, and Purchasing processes. The Associate Director is also responsible to delivering continuous improvement projects and standardizing work to maximize resources.
- Ensures the existence of a safe working environment for Supply Chain employees
- Ensures compliance with local quality regulations and support of a Quality-orientation by Logistics employees
- Provides a challenging and rewarding environment for Supply Chain employees
- through:
- Establishing and consistently communicating clear performance expectations.
- Providing direct, timely and appropriate performance feedback.
- Coaching in the creation of career objectives and the development plans.
- Establishing ownership and accountability through involving employees in the design and / or implementation of departmental processes and measurements.
- Champions OSSCE Class A performance through establishment of and / or compliance to OSSCE Class A processes
- Build strong relationships with external vendors and internal team
- Forecast and manage material expirations and revisions to prevent production schedule disruptions and minimize destructions and obsolescence
- Proactively manage dispatch list and communicate production needs to support groups
- Work closely with production planners/schedulers to ensure production needs are met
- Track and report purchasing metrics
- Project leadership and participation for process improvements, material revisions, launches, etc.
- Partnership with finance/procurement on evaluation of materials for slow-moving/obsolete inventory (SMOI) and obsolete inventory for destruction
- Completion of investigations and tasks in Track Wise
- Challenges Logistics employees to operate in an environment of continuous improvement
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or other technical field of study
- Experience in pharma manufacturing, procurement, or supply chain function
- Strong negotiating skills
- Advanced SAP experience
- Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role, including but not limited to F‑1 CPT, F‑1 OPT, F‑1 STEM OPT, J‑1, H‑1B, TN, O‑1, E‑3, H‑1B1, or L‑1.
- APICS CPIM certification
- Ability to work independently with little day‑to‑day direction
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Capability to prioritize and multi‑task effectively
- Excellent Computer skills (e.g., MRP, SAP, Excel)
- Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE objectives
- OSSCE knowledge and experience
- Normal work schedule is M‑F day shift (8 hrs/day)
