As a Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing and executing tactical purchasing activities, combining day‑to‑day procurement tasks with proactive initiatives to support an MTO/ETO pump manufacturing facility.
This position reports directly to the Supply Chain Supervisor and will operate out of Indianapolis, IN facility in a hybrid function

The salary range for this position is 57,300 USD – 78,800 USD. Individual pay will be determined based on market location and the candidate’s profile. The range listed is just one component of Peerless’s total compensation and benefits package for employees. Total compensation includes paid time off, paid holidays, merit increases, bonuses, and employee stock purchase programs, etc. Peerless salary rates are benchmarked and reflect the target for new hire salaries for the position in Indianapolis, In.
Yourmain responsibilities:
- Responsible for the completion of daily tasks effecting Purchase order performance including, but not limited to
- Purchase order submittals in SAP
- Follow up on demand vs supply
- Work with vendors to ensure delivery on time
- Reconcile supply/vendor related discrepancies
- Execute daily MRP transactions in SAP to ensure supply chain integrity and on‑time delivery of purchased parts
- Analyze MRP signals, supply risks to anticipate potentials shortage and proactively drive mitigation actions
- Interact with suppliers to communicate delivery expectations and ensure suppliers meet confirmed delivery
- Solicit quotes from approved suppliers
- Maintain material master records for assigned materials; ensure accurate material master, info records and source lists
- Resolve invoice discrepancies affected by pricing or delivery issues
- Involved in the resolution of defective or unacceptable goods or services, or delayed delivery of goods from vendors with Quality department
- Follow‑up on return purchase orders to suppliers to collect credit on defective materials
- Identify trends in suppliers’ performance, lead times, or recurring issues and recommend improvements actions beyond daily transactional follow‑ups
- Provide cross‑coverage for team members and contribute to supplier follow‑up and issue resolution.
- Maintain positive supplier relations
- Coordinate with Production and planners to share updated on material availability, delivery status, and order priorities.
- Facilitate sales orders and subsequent supply repositioning.
We imagine that you have:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of successful experience in tactical purchasing.
- A high school diploma combined with at least 4 years of relevant experience will also be considered.
