About

the Office of Judicial Administration

The Office of Judicial Administration is responsible for the efficient administration of all agencies that operate under the direction of the Chief Justice and the Supreme Court. That includes 200 personnel; fiscal management; communication; technology; legal services; intergovernmental relations; services for the trial courts; and support for court boards, commissions, and committees. The Office is headed by the interim Chief Administrative Officer Aaron Hood, who reports directly to the Chief Justice of Indiana and serves as the link between the Chief Justice and the agencies of the Court.

Role Overview

This position serves as a Continuing Education Accreditation Specialist with the Office of Admissions and Continuing Education (ACE), aiding in administering and regulating continuing legal education requirements for judges, attorneys, and mediators, including accreditation of attorney specialization programs. Overseeing the maintenance of electronic and paper records serves as a primary point of contact for inquiries and status verification, and provides customer support for attorneys, judges, mediators, Independent Certifying Organizations, and Sponsors.

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $44,900 but may be commensurate with education and/or experience.

A Day in the Life

Effectively and efficiently manages and reviews with speed, accuracy, and attention to detail. Provides high internal/external customer service through email, phone, and the Court’s Portal. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Explain Indiana Rules of Court as they pertain to inquiries and requests for Continuing Legal Education, Mediation, and Specialization.
  • Answer questions regarding delinquent attorneys and general inquiries, utilizing the system.
  • Maintain filings, including correspondence for extensions, fee waiver requests, etc.
  • Create invoices for sponsor applications.
  • Post completed Continuing Legal Education hours to attorney accounts.
  • Handle reinstatements; verify eligibility for reinstatement, post to attorney’s account, and email letter to Clerk’s office.
  • Process suspensions, reinstatements, sponsor applications, delinquent attorneys, and course attendance.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
