Bailiff- Marion Superior Family Division

Overview

The Bailiff assists the Judge and Court staff in the Family Division, supporting open court sessions and court operations. Case types include Divorce, Paternity, CHINS, Protective Orders, Juvenile Delinquency, Adoptions, and Termination of parental rights.

• Assist with conducting open court sessions.
• Prepare pleadings and monitor court files for sessions and Judge rulings.
• Update files and the Court’s case management systems, including Incite and Odyssey.
• Assist judicial officers and staff during court proceedings.
• Process information within the automated queue system timely and efficiently.
• Answer court telephones and respond to questions from court representatives and the general public.
• Assist with the effective management of the Court calendar by confirming hearings with attorneys.
• Assist with other duties and responsibilities as needed.

• High school diploma or HSE required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree beneficial.
• Strong proven computer, communication, and organizational skills required.
• Ability to effectively interact with diverse groups of individuals essential.
• Bi-lingual skills in Spanish, Burmese, or ASL a plus; salary enhancements for these skills and educational enhancements for an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
• Marion County residency required within six months of hire.
