While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In‑person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company‑wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

The Regulatory Litigation team focuses on regulatory investigations and litigation in some of the most interesting areas of law today. This role is perfect for a high-energy, strategic attorney with substantial experience in these areas who can manage an expanding litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have excellent judgment, analytical rigor, clear communication skills, and understand business pragmatism. This is a team‑oriented, essential role with willingness to tackle tasks large and small.

• Manage fast-paced docket of litigation and regulatory investigations (including financial regulatory enforcement matters) for Coinbase across a range of practice areas
• Develop, execute, and continuously assess Coinbase worldwide litigation strategy and tactics, including providing thought leadership, strategic direction and proactive solutions
• Join a team which receives, tracks, investigates, prepares evidentiary presentations, attempts to settle, and, where necessary, litigates lawsuits and regulatory matters brought against Coinbase
• Draft and file pleadings and briefs as needed
• Engage and manage outside counsel to effectively and efficiently represent Coinbase
• Work collegially and supportively with other members of the legal team

Qualities and experience we expect:

• At least 6 years of litigation or regulatory investigation experience
• Experience managing and successfully resolving strategic litigation
• Experience with regulatory investigations and financial regulatory enforcement actions
• Experience with third party subpoenas from regulatory agencies
• Strong negotiation skills
• Ability to manage expanding litigation practice, using outside counsel strategically and efficiently
• Ability to learn new areas of the law quickly and well
• Organized and detail oriented
• Basic understanding of the regulatory landscape in the crypto industry
• Bonus: experience working with or in the cryptocurrency space, Fin Tech space, and financial institutions and markets
• Juris doctor from accredited law school required
• Member of a US state bar in good standing
• Occasional travel required

Pay Transparency Notice:
Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).

$224,995—$264,700 USD
