Foster connections, integration, and independence of multilingual families through parent programming, home visits, and collaboration with school-based support teams.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with the district language support team to connect multilingual learners and their families to school and community resources.
- Provide computer basics instruction and workshops on Parent Square, Canvas, and Skyward for multilingual families.
- Partner with school social workers to serve as link between school and families.
- Provide professional development to build capacity and cultural understanding among staff.
- Conduct newcomer orientation and provide ongoing support to multilingual newcomer students.
- Support planning and implementation of culturally and linguistically responsive school-wide events and activities such as Family Literacy Night, Open House, and Back-to-School night.
- Organize and facilitate school events and activities for multilingual families such as Latino Family Literacy Project, AVID Excel Parent Sessions, and North Central Parent Quest.
- Serve as a Check & Connect mentor for multilingual students.
- Translate written documents.
- Serve as interpreter during conferences, telephone calls, emergency situations, testing, information gathering from other school districts, or any other school or district event that requires this service.
- Support students with navigating and completing coursework in Canvas and/or Edmentum.
- Tutor students with ILPs individually and in small groups under direction of classroom teachers.
- Participate in school and district professional development and meetings.
- Participate in monthly multilingual liaison meetings under direction of Coordinator of Student Programs and Community Liaison as well as ENL Coordinator.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to speak, understand, read, write, and communicate fluently in both Arabic and English.
- A high degree of competency in both languages is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods of time, carry 25 pounds occasionally, lift 25 pounds occasionally, push/pull up to 25 pounds, work at desk, conference table, meetings of various configurations, see for reading laws and codes, hear and understand speech, communicate, operate office equipment, reach in all directions, climbing, overhead work, etc.
