Position Summary

The Director of Information Technology provides direction and leadership for the entire technology function for the national organization, ensuring the highest level of efficiency, functionality and integrity for the Girls, Inc. national organization. The role also provides best practices, support and resources to the affiliate network, who deliver programming to over 100,000 girls.

The Director is a hands‑on leader who ensures best in class tools and services for the organization – ranging from ERP, CMS and HRIS systems, to content library, communication tools and data security.

The right hire will be resourceful and experienced in selecting, integrating and customizing systems and tools that streamline the work of the national organization, and connect and meet the needs of the staff and volunteers across the affiliates in an intuitive and accessible way.

The role reports to the COO and is full‑time, hybrid two days in the office, and based in Indianapolis, IN.

Specific Responsibilities Strategic Planning and Leadership
  • Recommend, implement and maintain an IT strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Work collaboratively with the IT Executive and IT Governance Committees, to establish and enforce approved policies.
  • Continually identify new trends and emerging tools, and implement innovative technologies to enhance and improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
IT Infrastructure Management
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and security systems, to ensure reliability, security, and scalability.
  • Maximize interoperability by being highly selective when considering new systems, setting standards for departments and affiliates to follow in their own selection of technology, and being strategic and user centric when leading system configuration and integration initiatives.
  • Ensure IT service desk operations are meeting performance metrics.
Data Management and Security
  • Build and maintain infrastructure and policies that ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and support security training, data protection, compliance and privacy to uphold the highest youth protection standards.
  • Oversee data management, including data collection, storage, analysis, reporting, retention, and destruction and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Oversee the development of an application lifecycle management plan to minimize the number of disparate systems, control costs, and improve the ease of providing analytics to the organization.
Team Leadership and Training
  • Hire, manage and develop a lean, high‑performing IT department, ensuring continued development of skills and knowledge.
  • Oversight of all contracted IT resources to ensure accountability.
  • Develop programs to provide training to staff to ensure effective use of IT systems and tools.
Project Management
  • Must be able to manage multiple simultaneous projects in flight, and report progress and outcomes.
  • Manage relationships with external IT vendors and service providers and create operational metrics, KPIs, risks, and service level agreements with all vendors to ensure value to the organization.
  • Collaborate with departments and staff to determine the business case and possible solutions for all proposed IT projects.
Budget and Resource Management
