IoT Solution Developer

Overview

The IoT (Internet of Things) Solution Developer is an on-site billable resource who is responsible for direct support of our customer. The ideal candidate is interested in continually developing their own business and technical skills in IoT technologies and owning a career progression from a developer to consultant and eventually architect. This role works in conjunction with our senior leaders and architects who have expertise in software development, hardware integration, and system architecture to create innovative, connected systems.

Prior experience in specific technologies is required while other technologies you will have the opportunity to learn and apply. The IoT Solution Developer role will initially report to Luke Rector – Senior Technical Solutions Engineer.

• Work with our customers to define and create solutions that enable them to realize the value of their deployed Inductive Automation – Ignition solution.
• Design and build Ignition Perspectives UI/UX dashboards and templates.
• Migrate existing Ignition Vision solutions to Ignition Perspectives.
• Three-day on-site requirement for customer support and service.
• Create services in Python (or other languages) and leverage APIs to join multiple data sets, execute flow control logic, and related operations.
• Interact with SQL databases, MQTT, OPC, and other data repositories and data engineering pipelines.
• Ability to utilize data packages such as Num Py, Pandas, matplotlib, etc.
• Awareness of PLC design, SCADA systems, HMIs, and protocols such as Ethernet, Profibus, Modbus, etc.
• Use Git or similar tools for code management and collaboration.
• Ensure IoT solutions adhere to cybersecurity best practices and relevant compliance standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system specifications and align user needs with technology opportunities.
• Identify and implement IoT solutions to eliminate manual processes and improve existing systems. Utilize technical solutions for the creation of business enabling tools.
• Develop and manage IoT platforms used by customers to monitor and control products.
• Perform system testing, validation, and troubleshooting of IoT solutions.
• Integrate data sources to be leveraged in descriptive, statistical, and predictive analytics.
• Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Document code, flow, and processes along with clear and concise user documentation.
• Provide training or knowledge transfer sessions to customers on IoT solutions.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Or the equivalent combination of education or work/military experience
• Ability to be on-site at least three days a week with customers in Indianapolis, IN
• 1+ year experience with Ignition
• 2+ years of experience with Java, Python or .NET, developing and supporting applications or data flows
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Works effectively, with minimal supervision, both independently and in a team environment
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships based on mutual trust, respect and cooperation with manager(s), executives, co-workers, and customers
• Reacts quickly and adapts to changes in priorities, circumstances, and direction
• Applies high level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Manufacturing, Engineering or Supply Chain domain knowledge a plus
