The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer. IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.
Role OverviewThe IT Field Technology Manager oversees project coordination and issue resolution to support the desktop technology team across the Northern Indiana region. In addition to HR responsibilities, this role manages staffing levels, coverage planning, time approvals, and performance evaluations. A key focus is ensuring that all counties receive adequate technical support to meet established Service Level Agreement (SLA) standards.
This position also helps allocate and coordinate field resources efficiently, reducing unnecessary travel while maintaining high-quality service delivery. You will collaborate closely with other Field Technology Managers and partners across multiple agencies to ensure that technical issues are addressed promptly, effectively, and with minimal disruption.
This postion works primarily in Northern Indiana. Residency in the service area is preferred. You may have occasional trips to Indianapolis for meetings, or other regions to coordinate efforts and services.
SalaryThe salary for this position traditionally starts at $93,002 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the LifeThe essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Assist the IT Director in developing current and long-range direction of technology in accordance with the direction of the agency.
- Assist the IT Director in setting policies and procedures, technical standards and methods and priorities for information systems activities.
- Assume director’s responsibilities in their absence.
- Dispense technical advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures.
- Analyze new technologies and make recommendations.
- Assist the executive team in the budgeting process.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Monitor time and dollar expenditures to ensure projects and budgets meet established targets.
- Represent the agency’s information technology division at events and meetings.
- Assist in the budgeting process with agency senior management for the information technology division.
- Coordinate, review, analyze, and make recommendations related to requests for proposals of information technology/security projects, ensuring that proposals comply with technical specifications and other IT strategic objectives.
- Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
- Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
WhatYou'll Need for Success
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
- A Bachelor's Degree and 1+ year of experience in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or
- An Associate's Degree and 3+ years of experience in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or
- At least 5+ years of relevant experience in Information Technology or a related field, applying the below, outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.
Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience.
