Position

Summary

The Archdiocese of Indianapolis is seeking a dedicated Human Resources Specialist to administer retirement and benefits programs for lay employees and clergy. This is a meaningful opportunity to grow your expertise in retirement plans, including pensions and 403(b)/401(k) plans while contributing to a values-driven, collaborative HR team.

Responsibilities

Retirement & Pension Administration

  • Support 403(b) auto-enrollment and manual enrollment processes
  • Process and review 403(b) distributions and respond to related inquiries
  • Administer pension benefit calculations and prepare distribution paperwork for lay and priest plans
  • Gather and verify data to determine pension eligibility and ensure accuracy

Clergy Benefits & Reimbursements

  • Administer reimbursements for Medicare Part B, Medical/Dental/Vision, and Long-Term Care (LTC)
  • Serve as a trusted resource for clergy navigating their benefits

Benefits Continuation & HR Operations

  • Manage continuation of benefits: send offers, calculate payments, and track receipts
  • Maintain Form I-9 compliance and upload documentation into HRIS
  • Coordinate HR/payroll changes and ensure accurate Payroll Action Forms
  • Track and file performance appraisals for Catholic Center employees
  • Administer tuition reduction program

Additional Responsibilities

  • Prepare supplemental insurance reports and billing (AUL)
  • Support planning and execution of the annual Employee Recognition Luncheon
  • Provide professional, courteous service to employees, clergy, retirees, and applicants
  • Respond promptly to email, voicemail, and mail inquiries
  • Maintain accurate personnel files and update HR forms and policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
  • Prior experience in HR or benefits administration required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
  • Completion of Child Safety Training and successful background screening required
  • Valid driver’s license required
Compensation/Benefits
  • Hourly Rate: $23.00 – $24.32 (equivalent to approximately $45, annually for a full-time work week)
  • Work-Life Balance: 4-day work week (Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m-5:30 p.m.)
