Overview
OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY (IN-OBGY-IUINA). The Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology's mission is to advance reproductive health care in Indiana and improve the quality of health care nationally and abroad. With a steadfast commitment to recruiting and retaining a strong and talented faculty, fellow and resident population to better serve the community, we are educating and preparing the next generation of OB-GYN physicians and improving health in Indiana.
The department has a long history of outstanding education, clinical care, quality improvement and basic, clinical and translational research. The IU School of Medicine OB-GYN teaching faculty and appointed clinical faculty at all 9 campuses throughout Indiana are eager to teach and have medical students, residents and fellows on their teams.
- Serves as a strategic member of the leadership team, providing comprehensive human resources services to support organizational goals.
- Consults with leaders on organizational structure, workforce planning, performance management, and compensation strategies and has oversight for recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and orientation for faculty, staff, and dually employed providers.
- Guides leaders and employees on compliance with university policies, civil rights regulations, accommodations, and reporting processes.
- Manages academic HR processes, including leave administration and promotion and tenure coordination, while educating supervisors on employee development, engagement, and retention strategies.
- Leads departmental initiatives such as annual performance conversations and engagement surveys, analyzes employee feedback, and advises leadership on actions to enhance satisfaction and retention.
- Strategic partner on leadership team providing all aspects of human resources services. Consult with leaders on organizational structure, key workforce challenges, performance management, and compensation.
- Directs and manages recruiting, hiring, on-boarding, and orienting of dually employed providers, academic and staff positions. Collaborates with university, IU Health Medical Group, IU School of Medicine, and departmental partners for securing high quality hires, providing a positive candidate experience, and new hire integration.
- Guides leaders and employees in adherence and understanding of university policies, IU School of Medicine guidelines, Office of Civil Rights Compliance search and screen processes, accommodations, and incident reporting to coach, inform, and ensure compliance.
- Manages academic processes including leave administration, policy coaching, coordinating personnel processes. Serves as promotion and tenure administrative lead to inform and guide faculty on processes, resources, deadlines, etc.
- Educates supervisors on methods to support employees including professional development opportunities, performance and goal development conversations, employee relation matters, employee engagement and wellness, etc. to uplift, retain, inform, and promote success for our talented team members. Confers with Centers of Expertise (COE) to ensure adherence to university policy and campus, school and department processes.
- Leads university-wide initiatives for the department such as annual performance conversations and MyVoice @ IU engagement survey. Collect data to determine employee satisfiers and dis-satisfiers through department exit surveys, rounding, team-wide and 1-on-1 conversations, and stay interviews. Advises leadership on employee engagement opportunities for increasing employee satisfaction and retention methods.
- Utilizes and applies in-depth academic and staff HR body of knowledge and skills to provide tactical guidance for HR related matters like salary administration, hiring, training, and policy interpretation.
- Resolves and provides solutions for more complex employee relations issues with continued partnership, counsel, and support from Centers of Expertise (COEs).
- Provides HR support for academic personnel processes, including administration for academic leaves, policy review and consultation, visa-processing coordination, and facilitation of promotion and tenure procedures.
- Collaborates with other business partners and managers to improve and build effective relationships to improve employee engagement and identify high-priority retention needs.
- Coaches leaders to help determine best solutions regarding policy interpretation, performance issues, workforce planning, change management, conflict resolution to ensure alignment and consistency across the university.
- Provides HR consulting and problem-solving solutions on issues to leaders and managers.
- Collaborates with HR COEs to roll out and support university-wide initiatives, ensure client needs are understood and met, and deliver change management interventions.
