Role Overview :Daily activities of the job include providing support and guidance to local agencies that serve WIC families in every county throughout the state of Indiana. In addition to responding to questions and concerns from local agency staff and WIC clients, support is provided in a variety of ways including reviewing and editing evidence‑based nutrition education materials and online nutrition education lessons offered to WIC clients through the Indiana WIC mobile app.
Also, by developing or revising policies and staff trainings specific to the operations in the WIC clinics. The position frequently researches and updates the State’s list of infant formulas and other nutritional products issued to WIC clients. Some travel is required of the position in order to conduct onsite clinic visits as part of the USDA required local agency reviews.
Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Monitor, review, survey and/or evaluate projects or facilities on a continuous basis to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Revise and assist in developing state regulations and compliance guidelines related to nutrition and/or food service within project area.
- Develop standards for nutrition and/or food service training.
- Provide on-site consultation to public or private agencies or to clients concerning nutrition and interpretation of regulations.
- Provide expertise in nutrition as a resource person to nurses, physicians, social workers, and others involved in project.
- Investigate and resolve complaints concerning food and nutrition problems.
- Prepare reports regarding findings of project or facility surveys or project monitoring making recommendations on program changes, licensure, compliance with regulations.
- Develop and distribute information as appropriate regarding nutritional care, standards, and guidelines.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
WhatYou'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Nutrition or Dietetics, as well as current registration as a Dietitian by the Commission of Dietetics.
- Be willing to travel with reasonable accommodation.
- Must adhere to current nutrition practices and standards.
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, standards and practices of public health nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, and health, safety and sanitation principles and practices.
- Thorough knowledge of and ability to apply appropriate federal regulations, state policies and procedures, federal and state laws.
- Specialized knowledge of accepted administrative and organizational methods.
