Overview:
The Registration Specialist is responsible for facilitating smooth patient flow from entry to service in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. This role involves collecting financial and demographic information, scheduling appointments, explaining charges and policies, validating and entering charges, and collecting payments. The specialist also answers incoming calls and directs patients and visitors appropriately.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure efficient and professional patient registration and flow.
Collect and verify patient information for accurate billing and clinical documentation.
Schedule appointments and communicate departmental/hospital policies.
Enter charges and collect payments at the time of service.
Answer and direct incoming calls and assist patients and visitors.
Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma or GED
Customer service experience
Preferred:
Experience in a healthcare setting
Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
Familiarity with insurance processes and medical terminology
Time-of-service collections experience
BLS Certification (AHA)
Technical Skills:
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
