Expected Starting Salary Range: $21.00 - $24.05

Department: Behavioral Med-Clin Psychology

Shift/Hours/FTE: Weekdays, 12pm-8:30pm (full and part-time available)

Working as a Behavioral Health Specialist Exposure Coach at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, you will enjoy:

  • Implementing, observing, and documenting an exposure therapy treatment plan for children and adolescents with anxiety disorders at the outpatient level of care.
  • Contributing to ongoing assessment and re-formulation of the treatment plan.
  • Working under the direction of the Exposure Coach Program Director and supervision of a licensed psychologist.
  • Providing care in office, in community settings such as the home or school, and through video teleconference.
  • Visiting community sites to provide care to individuals, families, and groups at the outpatient level of care.
Job Responsibilities

1. Care Delivery: Follow treatment schedules and plans, including exposure-based interventions, as directed by supervising psychologists. Use designated tools and technology to deliver care, maintain safe and organized environments, and ensure timely progression. Prepare materials, manage multiple or individual patient assignments, and elevate concerns to licensed providers.

2. Plan of Care: Implement and document patient responses to individualized plans, including community-based exposures. Engage families, update supervisors, and support exposure therapy under the guidance of a clinical psychologist. Apply discipline-specific interventions and collaborate to resolve session issues.

3. Group Therapy and Clinical Activity: Lead or co-lead therapeutic groups tailored to patient needs. Set objectives, follow behavioral protocols, and contribute insights. Apply behavior and education plans, manage crises safely, and participate in clinical meetings and treatment planning.

4. Therapeutic Relationships/Communication: Maintain professional boundaries and apply trauma-informed care. Build therapeutic relationships using empathy and positive communication. Support team planning, training, data collection, and contribute to program development and special projects.

5. Documentation and Data Management: Accurately and promptly complete care documentation and exposure data. Support ongoing treatment through data collection, graphing, and updating program materials per supervisor direction.

6. Education and Training: Attend peer reviews, meetings, and training sessions. Complete initial training and demonstrate proficiency with exposure tools.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent AND 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline OR Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Reliable transportation to and from community-based work locations (mileage reimbursed at federal rate)
  • Successful completion of the required exposure coach training within 3 months of start date
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Experience working with pediatric patients to deliver behavioral interventions
  • Experience utilizing technology to capture important and detailed information about exposure sessions
